If the Spirit stands behind us, throwing light over our shoulder on to Jesus who stands facing us. The Spirit’s message to us is never, “Look at me; listen to me; come to me; get to know me”, but always, “Look at him, and see his glory; listen to him and hear his word; go to him and have life; get to know him and taste his gift of joy and peace.” The Spirit, we might say, is the matchmaker, the celestial marriage broker, whose role it is to bring us and Christ together and ensure that we stay together.

In Revelation 1:9 we read:

“I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering, and kingdom, and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus; was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.”

Hello. I’m Kenneth Wright, the minister of the Church of Christ in New Iberia, Louisiana. Welcome to In Light of the Word.

Here in the beginning of the Book of  Revelation, John has revealed a timeless truth, and he does it so subtly that those of us who are 2000 years removed from the original people and language, may miss it.

It’s a truth that those in the first century needed to hear. But also, a truth that we today, some 2000 years removed from the events of long ago, need not only to hear, but grasp the concept.

There is so much controversy over the imagery in the Revelation that a person doesn’t know what to believe.

So, go get your Bible and study along with me as explore the Biblical principles and imagery found in this wonderful letter from God – In Light of the Word.

The Angels Among Us – Lesson Four

There are a couple of curious passages in the Bible concerning the subject of “Angels.”

Hebrews 1:7 reads: “In speaking of the angels he says, ‘He makes his angels spirits, and his servants flames of fire.” Then, in verse 14 we find: “Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation? “And then there’s Paul the apostle. He wrote in Ephesians 6:12: “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

So, what about angels? Are there both good and evil angels still active and working throughout the world today? Are they involved in our lives? Has our battleground changed? Has our enemy changed? Are the rules for us in the 21st century different that the rules they had in the 1st Century?

Join us at the New Iberia Church of Christ this Sunday morning (January 5, 2014) @ 10:00 A.M. as we study “The Angels Among Us.”

It’s Sunday and an exile by the name of John is worshipping. Suddenly, he hears a voice like a trumpet behind him, and the voice tells him to  “Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea.”

Hello, I’m Ken Wright the minister of the church of Christ in New Iberia, Louisiana. Welcome to In Light of the Word.

The idea of repetition is found all throughout the Bible. Amos 1:3 – “For three sins of Damascus, even for four, I will not turn back my wrath. In verse 6 he writes, “For three sins of Gaza, even for four, I will not turn back my wrath. In verse 9 he writes, “For three sins of Tyre, even for four, I will not turn back my wrath.

Over and over again in the Bible you’ll find repetition, and the repetition is to emphasize a point. It’s like driving a nail into a board with a hammer. You have to hit it several times to get it home, and that’s what God does all through out the Bible. And we find this done over and over in the book of The Revelation.

John me today as we take an opening look at the first of eight scenes in the Revelation and look a message firm God – In Light of the Word.

We know little about the unseen realm, except for what we are told in Scripture. Knofel Station writes in his book Angels and demons: “Do not the appearances of Angels, Satan, and demons coming to earth as reported in the Bible affirm the reality of the unseen world? There is nothing in scientific research that disproves the reality of such an unseen existence. These unseen spirit beings are probably involved on earth far more than we think. And certainly more than we see. There is not a hint in the Bible that the earthly activity of such spiritual beings have or will cease. Join us this Sunday – January 12, as we continue the Series – Back to Basics.” We will explore the Biblical teachings regarding Satan and his work.

In the first century Smryna is a wealthy, commercial trade center, located on a deep harbor of the Aegean Sea. Smyrna competed with Ephesus and Pergamum for the title “First City of Asia.”

Hello I’m Ken Wright the Minister of the church of Christ in New Iberia, Louisiana and Welcome to In Light of the Word.

Today we look at the second letter to the seven churches in Asia. It’s addressed to the little, struggling congregation in the city of Smyrna.

The Lord tells its members that even though they are struggling, even though they are hurting, and even though some of them are going to die, nothing on this planet is worth sacrificing you allegiance to God. He says that their faith in him should be unmovable, and total, even in the face of such trials.

Why? Because He is the first and the last, the one who dies and came to life again.

So What does that mean? Go get your bibles and study along with me as we explore the impact of trusting the Lord in time of trouble and heartache – In Light of the Word.

It’s a given that God’s written word is under attack by social media, historians academia, and many in the public sector. However, God’s Word is our final authority on all thing religious. We must never allow anyone to contradict or call i…nto question the accuracy of Scripture. We must admit that God’s Word cannot be changed or improved on in any way. No wonder David was able to write, “Blessed is the one who delights and walks in the law of the Lord; And who meditates upon it day and night.” Why not come a join us as we continue our series called “Back to Basics” this Sunday at

10:00 AM. We will be studying “What Are We to Believe About God’s Word?”

I know you’ve heard about all the bailouts, stimulus packages, subsidizing loosing companies, and give-away programs being conducted by our federal government over the last few years, and it seems like the Feds have a solution for everything doesn’t it? NOT! 2000 years ago the Romans tried the same thing. They had a solution for every problem. But, in case you haven’t noticed, The Roman Empire no longer exists.

Hello. I’m Kenneth Wright, the minister of the Church    of Christ in New Iberia, Louisiana. Welcome to In Light of the Word.

Today, were going to look the  church in Pergamum. This city was the Washington D.C. of the Roman Empire. The politicians thought they could legislate solutions for every problem. However, every solution brought new problems.

This is the world situation in which we find church in the city of Pergamum. Some Christians were trying to balance their faith and service to Christ, while at the same time, compromising with the world. Bad idea.

So, go get your bible and study along with me as we learn about how Satan’s Throne can (and does) effect the Christians of Pergamum, and how it still happens today – In Light of the Word.

Hello. I’m Kenneth Wright, the minister of the Church    of Christ in New Iberia, Louisiana. Welcome to In Light of the Word.

Today, we will look at the fourth church of the seventh churches in the Book of Revelation.

(Revelation 2:18-19)

18 “To the angel of the church in Thyatira write: These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze. 19 I Know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first.

This letter gave encouragement to the church of Thyatira to persevere in their witnessing Christ as the real Son of God. Let’s now come together to understand the circumstances of this church that necessitated so much attention of Jesus. This is the only time in the Book of Revelation Christ is referred to as the Son of God.

So, go get your bible and study along with me. Welcome to In Light of the Word.
