We know little about the unseen realm, except for what we are told in Scripture. Knofel Station writes in his book Angels and demons: “Do not the appearances of Angels, Satan, and demons coming to earth as reported in the Bible affirm the reality of the unseen world? There is nothing in scientific research that disproves the reality of such an unseen existence. These unseen spirit beings are probably involved on earth far more than we think. And certainly more than we see. There is not a hint in the Bible that the earthly activity of such spiritual beings have or will cease. Join us this Sunday – January 12, as we continue the Series – Back to Basics.” We will explore the Biblical teachings regarding Satan and his work.

In the first century Smryna is a wealthy, commercial trade center, located on a deep harbor of the Aegean Sea. Smyrna competed with Ephesus and Pergamum for the title “First City of Asia.”

Hello I’m Ken Wright the Minister of the church of Christ in New Iberia, Louisiana and Welcome to In Light of the Word.

Today we look at the second letter to the seven churches in Asia. It’s addressed to the little, struggling congregation in the city of Smyrna.

The Lord tells its members that even though they are struggling, even though they are hurting, and even though some of them are going to die, nothing on this planet is worth sacrificing you allegiance to God. He says that their faith in him should be unmovable, and total, even in the face of such trials.

Why? Because He is the first and the last, the one who dies and came to life again.

So What does that mean? Go get your bibles and study along with me as we explore the impact of trusting the Lord in time of trouble and heartache – In Light of the Word.

We must never allow anyone to contradict or call i…nto question the accuracy of Scripture. We must admit that God’s Word cannot be changed or improved on in any way. No wonder David was able to write, “Blessed is the one who delights and walks in the law of the Lord; And who meditates upon it day and night.” Why not come a join us as we continue our series called “Back to Basics” this Sunday at

I know you’ve heard about all the bailouts, stimulus packages, subsidizing loosing companies, and give-away programs being conducted by our federal government over the last few years, and it seems like the Feds have a solution for everything doesn’t it? NOT! 2000 years ago the Romans tried the same thing. They had a solution for every problem. But, in case you haven’t noticed, The Roman Empire no longer exists.

Hello. I’m Kenneth Wright, the minister of the Church    of Christ in New Iberia, Louisiana. Welcome to In Light of the Word.

Today, were going to look the  church in Pergamum. This city was the Washington D.C. of the Roman Empire. The politicians thought they could legislate solutions for every problem. However, every solution brought new problems.

This is the world situation in which we find church in the city of Pergamum. Some Christians were trying to balance their faith and service to Christ, while at the same time, compromising with the world. Bad idea.

So, go get your bible and study along with me as we learn about how Satan’s Throne can (and does) effect the Christians of Pergamum, and how it still happens today – In Light of the Word.

Hello. I’m Kenneth Wright, the minister of the Church    of Christ in New Iberia, Louisiana. Welcome to In Light of the Word.

Today, we will look at the fourth church of the seventh churches in the Book of Revelation.

(Revelation 2:18-19)

18 “To the angel of the church in Thyatira write: These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze. 19 I Know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first.

This letter gave encouragement to the church of Thyatira to persevere in their witnessing Christ as the real Son of God. Let’s now come together to understand the circumstances of this church that necessitated so much attention of Jesus. This is the only time in the Book of Revelation Christ is referred to as the Son of God.

So, go get your bible and study along with me. Welcome to In Light of the Word.

The Essence of Faith – Lesson Nine

Do you believe in Christ? Or do you “live by faith in the Son of God” (Gal. 2:20)? Did you know the two do not necessarily mean the same thing, though if you are in fact doing the latter you are also thereby doing the former. Belief and faith are not identical, and the difference can have eternal consequences. You might believe in the existence of God, and you might even believe that God became man in Jesus Christ, who died for our sins. But if you don’t live a life of faith in the Son of God, your belief will be of no avail at the judgment seat of God. Come and be with us this Sunday (2/9/2014 @ 10:00 AM) as we continue our Back to Basics Series and study – “The Essential Nature of Faith.”

I Saw Heaven Open – Lesson Nine

I Saw Heaven Open - Lesson NineMany people ridicule it; many people fear it; and far too many people are confused about it. Words like “the coming apocalypse”, “anarchy upon the Earth”, “devastation from above”, all these things tend to cast fear into the minds and hearts of those who pick up the book and read it. But Jesus says, “Blessed are the ones who read these words of this prophecy and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near”.

Hello, I’m Ken Wright, the minister of the church of Christ in New Iberia, Louisiana. I want to invite you to stay with us tonight as we strip away the confusion and concern that you may have concerning the Book of Revelation.   In Light of the Word.

God’s Call to Repentence – Lesson Ten

Like the Children of Israel many look for someone else to blame for their own sins. In their search for self-justification the Israelites they came up with a really cute and logical proverb that went like this: “The fathers may eat the sour grapes but the children’s teeth will be set on edge.” This meant that whatever the fathers of each successive generation did may not affect them, but it would surely affect their children and grandchildren. This was Israel’s way of blaming… their forefathers and even God, for the sin that they committed and the judgments they had to face.

In using this proverb they absolved themselves from the penalty for their own sin and place it upon the head of their ancestors. It is amazing what people will do to continue in their sinful lifestyles isn’t it? The word “Repent” has seemingly lost its meaning in our modern society – however, God has made this forgotten command a prerequisite for salvation. Join us at the New Iberia Church of Christ this Sunday (2-16-2014 @ 10:00 AM) as we continue our Back to Basics series with the message: “God’s Call to Repentance.”

Confessions unto Salvation – Lesson Eleven

Colon Brown in his Dictionary Of New Testament Theology says, “Homologous is a LEGAL WORD. It’s is used where a man agrees with the statement of another. And This AGREEING, expresses itself in a promise or commitment. It’s a LEGAL CONTRACT. So, “Homologous” is a confession and it is equivalent to a LEGAL — BINDING oath.

When applied to New Testament Christianity, confession means, To confess the Deity, The Lordship, The SOVEREIGNTY… of Christ.

It means to agree that …the historical Jesus of Nazareth was indeed the only begotten son of God who came as the Savior of the world. So, Confession is agreeing that we’ll commit ourselves to his Lordship… His sovereignty.

Now folks, if such a confession is crucial to our salvation… We need some Biblical basis for what we believe. Join us this Sunday as we continue our Series “Back to Basics” and study the subject of Confession – In light of the Word.
